Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – Southeastern dominated the paint and shot 45.2 percent from the field to cruise to a 75-61 win over Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday afternoon in Monticello, Ark.

The win improves the Savage Storm to 7-3 overall on the season and keeps the team's Great American Conference record spotless at 4-0.

A total of 13 SE players scored in the contests, with a trio leading the way in double-digits.

Madison Thames led the way for the Storm with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor and a 4-of-4 effort at the free throw line, while
Breana Small-Peppers and
Haley Schaefer each added 11 points.

Kaylie Baxter and
Shelby Hill each added seven points, while
Taylor Richards and
Emily Williams added six each.

Schaefer turned in a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds, while Small-Peppers was two behind with eight in the game.

As a team the Storm out-rebounded the Cotton Blossoms 42-to-33.

Southeastern did the bulk of its damage in the paint with a huge 42-18 advantage in the paint, while also holding a 34-6 edge in bench points and a 14-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

After letting UAM get on the board first, SE answered with a 7-0 run, but that advantage would not last long as the teams would soon find themselves tied at 7-7.

The teams would trade bucket to the tune of four more ties, the last coming at 21-21 with 6:26 to play in the half.

The Storm would then finish the half on an 18-4 run, including the final 10 points of the half, to carry a 39-25 lead to the locker room at halftime.

The second half was just as good for SE as they maintained their advantage and eventually pushed the lead to 20 points when Hill drained a three pointer with 9:55 to play.

The lead would grow to 25 points after a pair of Thames free throws before the Storm held on down the stretch for the 75-61 victory.
