Bloomer Sullivan Arena

Bloomer Sullivan Arena

On May 11, 2004, the citizens of Durant voted overwhelmingly in favor of a quarter-cent sales tax to fund new sports facilities for both the city of Durant and the university. The Durant Community Facility Authority (DCFA) was also created to oversee the process of improving recreational and athletic facilities for all ages.

Phase 3 of the DCFA’s mission is construction of a new arena just north of Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium. The facility opened in time for the start of basetball season on November 15, 2008. The Southeastern women's basketball team notched the first victory on the court on December 13, 2008 when they defeated Eastern New Mexico 84-61.

The 52,000 square-foot multi-purpose facility features a 3,000 seating capacity (394 in chairbacks) and 3,600 total capacity. It will be utilized for athletic events, convocations and special events.

CMS Willowbrook of Chickasha, Oklahoma, is the construction management firm for the arena/convocation center, while AIP from Norman, Oklahoma, is the architectural firm.
